2 Corinthians 6:1 (King James Version)
1We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
To receive God's grace in vain would mean that He has given us the power to walk free from the snares of this world through holiness, but we neglect it. Jesus is not looking at our intentions, wishes, or knowledge of what is right. He is looking at our works! Are we allowing the grace of God to produce holy living in our lives, or have we received the grace of God in vain?
The encouragement: there is strength to live a sanctified life through the grace of God.
